About Jason David Mileo

Corporal Jason David Mileo, United States Marine Corps

Jason was born on December 14th 1982, in the city of Baltimore.  After a while Jason and his family moved to Pasadena, Maryland, where he attended Chesapeake High School.  A straight “A” student.  He was an active participant in the school’s drama club and golf team. Leah, his mother, conveys that she saw in Jason a young man wise beyond his years.  Jason exhibited respect for all those he came to meet and touch.  Jason was, in respects, a model for the finest son a mother or father could ever hope to have.

Jason has a younger brother, Zachary.  While young, Zachary showed the love and admiration an older brother most assuredly earns.  When stationed in California, Zachary masterfully created drawings to be sent in mom’s survival kit to Jason.  Jason saved all the drawings.  Zachary will undoubtedly miss his big brother.

Jason enlisted in the Marine Corps while attending High School.  After graduation, Jason entered Marine Corps Service.  Service in Kuwait and Iraq would ultimately become Jason’s home away from home.  Like all Marines, Jason acquired that special bond and sense of teamwork.  Unlike all Marines, Jason was soon looked up to as a leader, not only thought the eyes of his subordinates, but his superiors.  His fellow Marines praised Jason’s ability to calm them down during times of strife.  Fellow Marines in Jason’s platoon wrote to Leah, saying they had total trust in Jason and knew he had their back!

An unnamed Sergeant praises Jason’s courage and commitment to duty.  The same Sergeant expressed his admiration for Jason in three categories, his devotion to duty, enthusiasm and perhaps most importantly, his unselfish demeanor.  He would go on to say that Jason served, both, Country and Corps. . . . . with honor!  The Sergeant closed by defining the word Leadership, as “One who brings about the best qualities in all others”.  This is Jason, said the Sergeant.

Beyond those who knew him personally, Jason meant much more.  An entire nation owes Jason an enormous debt.  Since the American Revolution Marines have fought and fought hard to secure and preserve the freedoms we now enjoy.  The Few and the Proud, how else can it be stated.  The United States has never needed more then A few good Men,   Jason served God, Country and Corps with Immense Honor.  He will be missed by all and live forever, because the Marine Corps Will Live For Ever. “Once a Marine, Always a Marine”.

To the family of Jason, we thank you for your most horrid of sacrifices, the giving of your beloved son and brother, to the United States.  In times, it appears the public really doesn’t care and this may be true for a very few.  I personally believe that the people of the United States do care.  Americans love Marines no less than our enemies fear them.  Jason has entered a group of patriots, few in number, who have made the ultimate sacrifice over the 229 year history of the Marines.  Always remember, God loves Hero’s for they are truly unselfish.

I know that I speak for all in saying that we are proud to have Corporal Jason David Mileo as a member of the Marine Corps League.  We are also honored and proud to use his name to that end.  We shall endeavor, through actions and words to sustain the integrity and honor of the Marine Corps League and the Corporal Jason David Mileo Detachment.  In doing so, we will in turn, Honor Our Fallen Hero, Corporal Jason David Mileo.

Semper Fi, My Friend,
May your Duty to God Exemplify Your Duty to Mankind!
You will Always be Remembered and Never Forgotten.
